Description

Found this in my father's photo album that he was working on when he passed away in 1968. He was in the anti-aircraft part of the US Army Coast Artillery Corps and is the one carrying the round of ammunition.
From the men's state of undress, the location is probably somewhere in the southeastern United States during the summer.

Breech: semi-automatic
Rate of Fire: 25 rounds/minute
Elevation limits: -5º to 85º (later mounts)
Recoil type: hydro-spring
Fire control director: M4 or M7 (earlier M1, M2 and M3 could be substituted)
Effective slant range: 9,500 yards
Effective horizontal range: 10,500 yards
Effective vertical range: 10,100 yards
Effective fire control altitude: 25,000 feet

not sure if you are still a current deviant. I just found your picture. My grandfather did the same training at camp Davis in North Carolina (The camp does not exist anymore.) I have a map my grandfather used to track himself in the pacific it has all of the guys in his unit signature's. There is a rough sketch of the gun on this map.
