Backside of Diamond Head 1962 02

Looking east from the previous photo. The community of Aina Haina spreads out before one. The name in Hawaiian means "the land of Hind". It was named after Robert Hind, who ran a dairy in the valley before WWII. The dairy buildings were located to the right of the shopping center. My house was at lower left.
In the distance stands 1200' Koko Crater, formed at about the same time as Diamond Head, and to the right is Koko Head, behind which is Haunama Bay, a favorite spot for tourists.
On the other side of the low ridge on the left are Niu Valley and Kuliouou, where, at the time of this picture, lived the young Barack H. Obama.
